Allegation on Bikram Majithia of Rs 3,000 crore education scam

Amritsar: After Congress leader Sukhjinder Raj Singh Lally Majithia on Thursday demanded probe into alleged multi-crore financial bungling in Khalsa College Charitable Society (KCCS), the latter hit back by the evening threatening to sue him with a defamation case.
Earlier in the day, Lally Majithia, an arch-rival of former Akali minister Bikram Majithia, issued a press release accusing the Majithia family and others of hatching a conspiracy to take over assets worth Rs 3000 crore by converting the KCCS into a personal fiefdom.

He demanded a probe into working of Majithia family-controlled KCCS over last decade by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and its takeover by the state government. He alleged Bikran Majithia and his family was trying to convert Khalsa College, Amritsar being run by Majithia family-controlled management into a private university.
Hitting back at Lally Majithia, Khalsa College management termed his allegations against KCCS as false and frivolous and a product of his `imaginative thinking’. In a counter statement, the management said they were seeking the legal opinion to file the defamatory case against Lally Majithia.

Lally who has made the politically motivated allegations against the top members of the management and tried to subvert the facts and figures has posed false information before the media persons and also issued the press note which is highly derogatory and defamatory.
“We are seeking the legal opinion and will approach the Court against Lally Majithia for twisting and trivializing the facts and figures’’, said KCCS honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina.
He said the allegations of financial bungling and others are misleading and the Society was making efforts day and night to contribute its best to the society in the field of education and it was in this pursuit that they established the Khalsa University in 2016.
