NIA wants to take out Jagtar Singh Jaggi & others to Tihar Jail (Delhi), but Why ?? | Without charge mark 100 days of detention – Interview with Jaspal Singh Manjhpur (Advocate)

Chandigarh: The National Investigating Agency (NIA) of India has got the go days extension which they had sought from the special NIA court in order to file chargesheet in 3 cases being investigated by the agency in Punjab.
Earlier last week the NIA had asked for go days extension to file chargesheet against Taljit Singh Jimmy, Hardeep Singh Shera and Ramandeep Singh Bagga for presenting chargesheet in case no. RC/I8/DU/17. The request was opposed by the defence but it was allowed by the Special NIA court of Ms. Anshul Berry today.

Jaggi’s Case Update 14th February 2018: ( Via Free Jaggi Now Campaign)

The judge has today granted a 90 day remand extension.

This will make it 180 days in detention before Jaggi could face any actual charges.

Time after time, we have seen the judiciary of India fail Jaggi and rule in the favour of state agencies. To date (104 days since his illegal arrest) no agency has been able to produce any evidence against Jaggi despite the top brass of the police and the Chief Minister of Punjab declaring they have all the evidence needed for a conviction.

We continue to see a bias against Jaggi in every preliminary hearing he has had, and India continues to allow this charade play out. The agencies are attempting to save face and to make the public forget about Jaggi as they try to prolong the case.

The NIA have today also submitted three new legal applications for further extensions of 90 days in relation to other cases to cause massive legal delay.

The NIA have been reluctant to provide a copy of the extension requests to Jaggi’s lawyer, showing disregard for any due process.

There continues to be a lack of due process and transparency, and still to date there has not been an independent medical to investigate Jaggi’s torture by Punjab police. It is essential we keep raising our voice in support of Jaggi and call on the UK government to take action.
