BRITISH politicians are lobbying the UK government and the Indian High Commission to release Jagtar Singh Johal.

The SAD today raised doubts over the claims of the Punjab Police about the involvement of a British national in targeted killings in the state and asked the Congress government to give evidence to prove his complicity.
The UK citizen, Jagtar Singh Johal, alias Jaggi, was among five accused arrested in connection with targeted killings, including that of RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja. The Punjab Police had claimed that it had “sufficient” evidence to prove the complicity of Johal in the targeted killings.

60 Members of UK Parliament join @PreetKGillMP and @MartinJDocherty in writing to the Chief Minister of Punjab regarding the detention (without charge) and torture of UK National Jagtar Singh Johal.

Gurpreet Singh, brother of Jagtar Singh, addressed MPs and community figures at the annual Sikh Network Guru Nanak Gurpurab (Guru’s celebration) in Parliament this evening.

The talk by Gurpreet Singh during the event further emphasised the need to continue the fight to challenge the Indian states human rights abuses, which was widely supported by all in attendance, including a plethora of MPs who posed with a #FreeJaggiNow sign.
