Four of a family killed after car hits bike in Patiala

Four people of a family, including two children, were killed when the motorbike they were riding was hit by a speeding car on Shambu-Banur road on Friday.The family that hailed from Shogalpur village was going to pay obeisance at Mansa Devi temple in Panchkula. According to eyewitness, the Maruti Swift car was coming from Banur when it hit the motorcycle near Tepla village in Ghanaur tehsil.

Kulwinder Singh, SHO Shambhu police station said, “The car was at a high speed and was unable to control when the bike came into the way. However, it’s unclear that how the car lost its balance before hitting the family. The couple and their toddler died on the spot while their daughter died on her way to government medical hospital in sector-32, Chandigarh. We have arrested the accused car driver Sukhwinder Singh, 35 from the spot and the case has been registered against him under sections 304-A (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 427 (mischief) and 279 (rash driving) of IPC act.”
