Desecration of Guru Granth Sahib ji : Police arrest Amritsar Publisher

dharnaJalandhar- Sikh Sangat protesting against the sacrilege of a saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and Gita ended the road blockade they started on Saturday morning.

Jalandhar Police Commissioner Arpit Shukla said the Amritsar police have arrested one Raghbir Singh, a publisher of religious books, who would be Monday brought to Jalandhar for further investigation.
The road blockade which started on Saturday morning after the sacrilege came into notice and ended only after around 36 hours on Sunday at 10.15 PM. The ‘Angs’ of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were found floating in filthy water of a drain type canal.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Sikh Sangat had started dharna at Kapurthala chowk where Kirtani Jathas recited Kirtan and Sangat recited the Jaap of Satnam Waheguru.

The peaceful dharna remained a headache for the district police as the traffic remained diverted and the Sangat remained adamant that they won’t lift the blockade until and unless the culprits were nabbed.
However, the police claimed that the ‘Angs’ of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were got examined from a team of SGPC which visited Jalandhar today.
