Punjab Cabinet minister Sikandar Singh Maluka on Sunday was awarded ‘tankhah’ by five Sikh high priests during a meeting at the Akal Takht secretariat for allegedly indulging in blasphemous act of distorting the Sikh Ardas at Bathinda.He appeared before SGPC/Badal appointed priests today. Maluka was awarded religious punishment, which included performing ‘sewa’ at Joda Ghar and Langar Hall at Sri Darbar Sahib for three days. Besides, he was also directed to deposit Rs 51,000 at Akal Takht’s golak as punishment.
Maluka was also asked to perform sewa at Langar Hall and Joda Ghar for a day besides depositing Rs 31,000 in the golak at Sri Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo.
During the opening of election office of Rural Development Minister Sikander Singh Maluka in Rampura Phul last month, ‘shlokas’ were reportedly recited in a manner ‘ardas’ is performed. A video of the incident has gone viral.
