Ahead of its national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s rally in the Lambi constituency on December 28, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday accused chief minister Parkash Singh Badal’s close aide Dyal Singh Kolianwali of threatening its volunteers when they visited the proposed venue at Kolianwali village.Kolianwali, who is chairman of Punjab Agro Foodgrains Corporation, holds a key position in the CM’s constituency. The party’s Bathinda zone leadership has filed a complaint with the Muktsar senior superintendent of police (SSP), demanding action taken against him for allegedly misbehaving with its workers and asking them to leave the place or face dire consequences. They have also sought adequate security to make arrangements for the rally which will be held on four acres of common village land.

On Monday, the AAP workers and Kolianwali exchanged heated arguments after he reached the rally venue with his supporters.
After the incident, AAP’s state women wing president Baljinder Kaur and party candidate from Bathinda urban constituency Deepak Bansal held a meeting with AAP workers in Bathinda.Baljinder claimed that Kolianwali and his men threatened AAP workers if they continued with their plan to hold the rally in the Lambi constituency.“Who is Kolianwali and who gave him the right to stop the AAP from holding a rally in the village? It is a democratic system and we have already for permission to hold the rally at the proposed venue. Besides complaint to the Muktsar SSP, we will bring this to the notice of the Election Commission of India,” she said.
